Jarrell Middle School Library
The library is an important part of each student’s learning experience. Middle School patrons visit the library with their ELAR class on a bi-weekly basis. Students are welcome and encouraged to visit the library during the day with teacher permission. JMS library is open for checkout from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Students must have a signed planner to visit the library during school hours. Our goal is to nurture learning while developing a love for reading.
Borrowing Materials: Students are allowed to check out print materials using their district-issued ID number for a two week period. Students may renew items during the initial loan period for an additional two weeks. Students may borrow materials from the library with the understanding that they are responsible for all items checked out under his/her name.
Electronic Resources: JMS library is very excited about our electronic resources. We have Playaways, Kindles, e-books via Overdrive, and a large collection of research database available for students. In addition, all research databases and Overdrive can be accessed from school or home via the library homepage.
Chromebooks- Chromebooks are available for student use during library hours.
Fines: Students will receive overdue notices at progress report time and at the end of each nine weeks. Daily fines are not charged for print items. After two consecutive circulation periods have passed, the item(s) will be considered lost and the student will be charged for the price of the item(s). In addition, students will be charged for materials that are damaged hindering the item unusable. Loss of library privileges will result for outstanding fines.
Internet: All students are welcome to use the internet responsibly in the library and must have an Acceptable Use Agreement on file as per district policy.
Interlibrary Loan ( ILL): Students may request materials from any library in Jarrell ISD unless a parent requests a restriction of this privilege. All ILL requests should be made at the school where the student is enrolled, and all items will be checked out and returned to the student’s home campus library.
Printed copies can be made from library materials and computer print-outs. Copyright and confidentiality of record laws are practiced.
